Topic: A Life Interrupted
Powerful and interactive program in partnership with families of victims who have died as the result of an automobile crash involving alcohol, drugs or unsafe driving practices by young and inexperienced drivers. It was created to educate high school students about the dangers of driving or riding with someone under the influence or distractions.
Speaker: Scott Spielman, Assistant District Attorney
After serving in the US Army as a military police officer, Scott graduated from Fresno State University and then McGeorge School of Law. He then worked for Spielman Construction Company in Simi Valley before beginning his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Kern County District Attorney’s Office in 1994.
During his 24 years in the Kern County District Attorney’s Office, Scott has worked in the misdemeanor, felony, preliminary hearing, rural crime, and special prosecutions units. Scott has personally prosecuted over 100 felony jury trials with almost half involving murder, sexual assault and serious child abuse cases. Since 2011, he has been the Assistant District Attorney. He is the president of the non-profit group A Life Interrupted which works in partnership with the Bakersfield Police Department’s presentation of A Life Interrupted to educate our youthful drivers about the dangers of impaired and reckless driving.
